Originally by: Moriiko i am using 0.9.39 and every now and then my client drops its connection. but it doesn't register it being dropped. My client stays up as if i am in a solar system, but to all my friends i am offline.
Common behaviour for a bad internet route. Nothing to do with you other than where you live in the world.

The other PC never disconnects? Not even at different times?

Originally by: Moriiko not at all, other pc works like it should in windows. its literally just the wine. and as i said as far as the eve client is concerned its still connected
Dunno, I've not heard anyone else complaining of random disconnects under Linux. Maybe a network driver issue or a dodgy ethernet chip.

Sounds very strange but one thing I found with Mepis, which is based on Ubuntu and uses KDE, was that I had to block all desktop hotkeys to stop the game losing focus. Dunno if it will help your problem though.
You can find said settings in the prefs under Desktop->Window-Specific Settings. You need to add a new entry for Wine.

I also force Eve into a window so I can manage it from the taskbar.
PS: I use Cedega rather than Wine.

Same apparently random spread of affected installs on Cedega also. So, I wouldn't bother trying to rebuild Wine.
Doesn't seem to matter what CPU/OS/GPU/WINE version you have. For some it's sweet as - that's me. For others it's splash then crash if I'm hearing right.

Yes, you need to change the loading order of the stdlib.cpp and lib.cpp as discovered by Kadesh Priestess.
One way is to make lots of links to new names for lib.cpp until one of them ends up ahead of stdlib.cpp, another way is to copy them both in the right order then delete them both then rename the copies back.
Scorpyn gave one example: cp stdlib.cpp stdlib2.cpp cp lib.cpp lib2.cpp rm stdlib.cpp rm lib.cpp mv stdlib2.cpp stdlib.cpp mv lib2.cpp lib.cpp

I suspect the reason why windoze is not affected so badly is because the loading order is the same as the stored order. Where as with linux the loading order appears to be the reverse of the stored order.

Err, scratch that idea. I just tried to break mine - but couldn't!

Nah, Don't use that method, it's not reliable, as I said in the following post. Use the many links method instead.

stdlib.ccp being first or last doesn't seem to be enough. Make yourself lots of duplicate lib.ccp links/copys, that'll fix it.
I found on my setup if I makes lots of duplicate stdlib.ccp I could eventually force the splash then crash. Otherwise I could never recreate the bug.
